We
are committed to providing excellence in Catholic Education in the name
of Jesus Christ, enabling our children to bring their faith and
knowledge into the world.
The
grouping of the three windows behind the altar tells these stories.
The
first window facing the congregation on the left is a scene depicting the
blessing of Abraham upon his return from fighting by the priest
Melchizedek.It was Melchizedek who
offered bread and wine as gifts of hospitality to Abraham. So Melchizedek, a priest
of the old testament, is a type and figure of Jesus who was to come, the priest
of the new testament.
The
middle window is the death of Jesus on the cross. It is the central image of our Christian faith.
This sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is remembered and celebrated at the
Eucharist.
The
right window is the Last Supper, the giving of bread and wine as the Body and
Blood of Jesus. The two Apostles represent John and Peter. It is a tradition that the apostle John is
most often the one that is pictured without a beard because he was thought to
be the youngest.
The
west window in the sanctuary is Jesus as the Good Shepherd. He carries the lost lamb symbolizing the
concern Christ has for those who have wondered away and how he searches to rescue
them and rejoices when he has brought hem back into the fold.
The
east window depicts Jesus knocking at the door.Notice that there is no knob on the door. This
signifies that the knob is on the other side and Jesus waits for us to open the
door to his love.
