Uniform Code PDF Print E-mail

Students in Grades K through 8 are to wear the school uniform daily unless otherwise authorized for "special" occasions. Check your monthly school calendar for special days. The Uniform Code is as follows:

GIRLS: Grade K-4, Three options

Jumper, Blouse, Sweater (optional), Socks, Shoes
Slacks, Blouse, Sweater or Weskit, Socks, Shoes
Culottes or Shorts, Blouse, Socks, Shoes

GIRLS: Grades 5-8, Three options

Must be worn at all times No short, ankle-height socks, or athletic socks

Shoes

Dress shoes (e.g.,. Oxfords, loafers, saddle, mary janes)

No canvas or athletic shoes of any kind, no boots above ankle bone may be worn, no sandals, no clogs, no thongs or shoe with heels exceeding two inches in height. All shoes must have toes and heels enclosed.


***Gym shoes are to be worn only during gym classes. Shorts Solid navy Knee length Schoolbelles/Local May be worn first day of Walking shorts school until Oct. 31 and after April 15 when weather is hot.

***Students are not to wear dark shirts or shirts with writing or pictures that can be seen through the uniform shirt.

Fabrics and Patterns

Navy plaid and solid navy fabrics are available from the Schoolbelles Uniform Company. The girls' slacks are not to be a boy or Levi cut. The pattern for slacks may have a set in waistband with a front zipper or be an elasticized waistband. While slacks, shorts, blouses and shirts may be purchased locally, they must be the same style as shown in Schoolbelles' catalog. School uniforms should not display ‘trendy" styles or logos.

Used Uniforms

Depending on supply and demand, HASA conducts a Used Uniform Sale in the Spring and in the Fall.

Cosmetics

No facial or eye make-up is allowed on any day, including Dress-Up Days. Nail polish should be neat. Chipped and broken polish should be removed. Long, artificial nails are not to be worn.

Jewelry

Jewelry and other accessories are to be appropriate for school and the child's safety. Girls' earrings are to be post type only and worn on the ear lobe. Only one pair of earrings may be worn. NO dangling earrings are allowed. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings of any type.

Earrings, necklaces and bracelets that can hurt a child while playing are not allowed.

Tattoos and body piercing of any type are prohibited.

School Dress for Special Days

Dress-Up Day: Sunday best! There is NO need to purchase new clothes for "Dress-Up Days." However, students are NOT to wear jeans of any color, T-shirts, sweats, tennis shoes and the like. Uniforms may be worn if preferred.

Dress-Down Day: Jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, tennis shoes are permitted if they are in good condition. Sweat pants are not allowed. Uniforms may be worn if preferred.

School Spirit Day: Students may wear St. Monica School logo clothing or solid tops of purple or gold. This may include top jersey of sport when in season. Jeans and tennis shoes are acceptable. Knee-length navy walking shorts are the only shorts to be worn when the weather is warm. Only St. Monica sweatshirts and T-shirts may be worn. Any writing on these items must pertain only to St. Monica School.
