Athletic Eligibility
Athletic Eligibility PDF Print E-mail
To assist students, parents, teachers, and coaches in recognizing and accepting academic development as the primary responsibility of the St. Monica student, the following guidelines have been developed to determine athletic eligibility.

Teachers will review the grades of their student at Progress Reports and Report Cards. Students receiving an F or two D's in any subject will be ineligible. If so, a student would be ineligible for two weeks. If, at the end of that time, a student's grades are satisfactory, they will be eligible again. Teachers will inform students when their grades are raised and give them a form to be signed by the principal and given to the respective coach.

It is hoped that this process will not be viewed as a punitive measure but as assistance to any student who may need the extra incentive in keeping grades at an acceptable level. With this practice students will know in a timely manner what needs extra effort.

While a student is on this probation period, he or she is not to practice or play in games. Coaches will be informed of what students are on probation.

Any student athlete certified by the School as having a learning disability or learning problem may be able to participate in sports:

            A. at the discretion of teachers and principal
            B. with discussion with parents/guardians
            C. if the coach is informed
