Important Details:
-Show and Tell/Homework: Have a discussion about your favorite family activities. Help your child pick one or two to describe as you dictate their ideas. These only need to be a sentence or two. Because you child will share this aloud the ideas and words need to be their own. Your child will also show a family photo and tell the names of the people. Remember to practice at home. The students did very well last week!
-You will find several field trip permission forms. I am hoping to simplify things by sending all the forms, fees and dates at once. Please have all forms and fees in by Tuesday, Sep.7. Some field trips work well with younger siblings and some do not. I have noted this detail on each form so you can decide if driving for that trip works for you. We do rely on parent drivers and really appreciate your help.
-The Diocese requires any adult who will be helping in any way (Work Stations, field trips, etc.) to view a video (about 20 minutes) about child safety and have a background check. You may view the video and request a background check on our school website. There is no fee for you to do this. Drivers also need to have Mrs. Baker make a copy of your current car insurance card to keep on file in the office. I know these are not necessarily convenient requirements, but try to keep in mind it is for the safety of all your children. You only need to view the video and have the check every 5 years, so if you did this last year you are all set!
-I wanted to address a misunderstandings about the dress code. Kindergarten students may wear gym shoes every day. Their socks do still have to meet the dress code requirements. The book states that they need to be crew socks. It is fine to fold the crew socks so they cover the ankles, however.
-
Please work on zippers, hooks, buttons and belts at home. It is hard when fabric is new and stiff, so please practice at home. Another difficulty to practice at home is tucking in shirts. Make sure your child has enough room in the waist of his/her shorts to button/hook them on their own. Tight pants are very hard to close independently! Boy, there is a lot to learn in Kindergarten! We will get there very soon!
